http://www.foodincmovie.com/I watched "Oprah" the other day and her show was about this movie and after watching her show I added "Food Inc." to my "Netflix"queue. I was really excited to get it in the mail today! Drew and I have been talking about eating better and have made baby steps in what we buy and don't buy. Drew and I just finished watching "Food Inc." and I think everyone should watch this movie! It makes me sick to see how dirty our government is! To put farmers out of business for cleaning their seeds!!!!! Give me a break! This world is full of way too many greedy people! I also became a victim of the spinach e coli outbreak we had in 2006. I became deathly ill after eating a sandwich that had a bed of spinach on it and was hospitalized the next day! I really thought I was going to die and I know my parents thought the same thing! The hospital lost my test results and samples I gave them and discharged me without even telling what was wrong with me! I yelled across the emergency room to my doctor for him to come talk to me and tell me what happened to me but, he just kept his head down and the nurse urged me and my mom to leave. I still get mad till this day if you can't tell! I lost 30 lbs from being sick and couldn't eat anything for a few weeks besides toast and water. I had to reteach myself how to eat and, till this day I'm a very finicky eater! My PCP thought I just had G.E.R.D. and I know that wasn't the problem so, at the time I happened to be working for a holistic pharmacy and I had a few treatments done and I went to a friend who is an acupuncturist and he had me drink this nasty tea drinks but, they helped. The holistic approach is what helped me.
So, I know I got a little off subject but, it does all connect. I can't wait till the day Drew and I have a little bit of land and can grow our garden. We also want to have a little chicken coop to have fresh eggs. It would be nice if one day we can have a little stand at a local farmers market. I want my children to eat healthy and be educated on where their food comes from. We all need to step back and look around us and go back to the old ways. Don't get me wrong I love technology but, you also need to get your hands dirty.
My sister has seven children and while through the years I've gone to many school events, plays, spelling bees ect... and I've told my sister I can't believe how so many of these little girls look like teenagers or women in elementary school! No one looked like that when we were in school. We both agreed it's due to all the hormones in the food!
So in closing like the movie said you have three votes a day. Be smart and look into where your food is coming from and what you're feeding your family. Below are a few links too local farmers near me and sites to help find a local farmer.
